Ding Dong....

Hello web world! Hello people all over who are reading this. It seems like recently a lot of people are getting into Direct Sales. I am not here to mock it one bit. I tried at 2, and didn't do so hot. I'm on my 3rd Direct Sales attempt. Which one do you ask??????????????????????

That's right, my third attempt is at AVON!!! I've been familiar with it since I was a kid and I remember when my mom would order something and she would let me have the small lipstick samples! I loved that. Inside every woman is a little girl who loves to play dress up from the toes up!!!

So there you have it!

Taking a break ~~ Shout out to my momma

I know I'm not as consistent as other bloggers out there but I'm working on that.

Today is my mom's birthday and it has been a pretty good day. She got some chocolate covered pineapples in the shape of cupcakes (courtesy of me). Tonight my sister and I are taking my mom out to the ball game.

Working within my means .... Part 2

Part 2...

All the carpet is gone, the floor has been cleaned with Pine-Sol, once so far. It has been freshly painted (ceiling, walls and trim). I am quite happy with the way it turned it. I'm actually doing a small cabinet using the color from the closet. I'm pretty happy with it and with myself. Can't wait to get the carpet in (next Tuesday) and then, the full-size daybed I ordered will also be in in about two weeks, maybe sooner!!! The room is really coming along. I'm stuck on window treatments right now and I really need to get blinds in that room. So that will be another thing I'll be looking into!

Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasures... hahaha

I thought I had more but I guess I didn't. I'll be finishing the doors (closet and room) this week and they will be rehung after the carpet is installed. It's going to be like a whole new downstairs in the house.

The next project is going to be bar and something for the tv!!! Stay close.

Working within my means....

So I've been off from work for a little while now and I got the DIY bug!!! With my sister moving out, I am attempting to redo her office back into a spare bedroom.

I divert for some history---When I moved in to my home seven years ago, the carpets were freshly steam cleaned. My sister moved in, bought a cat (training didn't go so well), cat pees all over office carpet, we clean and re-clean as much as possible. But with all the 'stuff' that was in there at the time, getting the carpet up and out was out of the question....NOT ANYMORE!!!

I got the carpet and padding up in one day and gone the next (with the help of my dad and his pickup). Must to my dismay, I was left with Armstrong asbestos vinyl tile. If you know anything about them, it's enough to give any homeowner worries. ***BRING IN MY STRESS***

So this is going to be on-going. Here are some of the pictures of what it looks like now. I forgot to take pictures of the carpet, but take my word for it, they were bad. They smelled and were still damp (ewww...#grossfactor!!!)

Most of the tile is still in good condition. Thanks to the assistance of Pinterest and The Space Between with their Asbestos experience.

After a lengthy phone call with an inspector today, I decided to save myself $675 (US Currency) and I'm going to be covering the floor with carpet. Is that what I want, No. Is that what I'm going to do? Yes!

I have some colors picked out already, I'll be checking out the room in the morning to see what it looks like when the sun comes in and then off to the paint store to get rolling while the weather here in wonderful Maryland is nice!

Until next time.

Always Smile

ADD Overload

So I was recently in a work related car crash and today was my first day back to work after being out for four days. I was really beyond happy when I left the house this morning to go to work, then I got to work and realized that I maybe should have stayed home. Either way, it was a pretty good day at work for the most part. I ended up having to work my secondary gig for a few hours after and my back really paid the price. I couldn't wait to get home and take the uniform off and just relax!!!

Just like every other female I know, we are all pretty obsessed about being healthy in someway shape or form. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with wanting to lose a few pounds, it's when you are already skin and bones and think your still overweight that is the problem. The problem is with the models and the model television programs! How about taking a chance and going for the average to plus size beautiful female and giving her a multimillion dollar contract or insuring her body parts for millions of dollars? I'm just saying, how about looking out for the little guy (girl)!?

Just like this picture http://whirligigagogo.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/hotter-than.jpg, what are we teaching our little girls.

I know you are probably lost in this blog post, and to tell you the truth I think I am as well. HAHAHA. At the end of the night, I get random thoughts and if you stick with me, they may turn into something wonderful!

With that, I hope everyone has a wonderful night and stays warm.

Always Smile...

Well so much for writing on the end of every shift. As you can tell, life does get in the way. With everything I have going on, I don't know how professional bloggers do this for a living! Although I have to admit that I have thought about doing that but then I take a step back and realize that my ADD keeps me going in all different directions.

I read a quote once that said if you wanted to try and understand a women's mind, imagine having millions of tabs open in your internet. It was something like that, but it holds true. Even sitting here writing, I'm thinking about what I need to do and taking mental notes of a grocery list and when I want to go get the stuff.

So with that, I am going to get up and go do something.

2014 and what....

I know there are like literally less then probably two people who read my blog, but it makes it feel good knowing that I am trying to make some kind of difference in my world. By publishing it in a blog makes me feel accountable to hold myself to whatever it is!

2014...I would like to say started off with a "BANG" but it was just another day. I do what I usually do and refuse to make a resolution. I refuse because I don't want to make a promise to myself and not see it through. So instead of a resolution, I thought of other ways to (I guess) change. I want to be more organized. I am slightly already but could be more. I want to eat healthier, I already make good choices but I want to make more. I want to do stuff for me, I do but I want to do more. ... Are you sensing my theme here. I want to DO MORE for MYSELF!!!!

I am going to try and write a blog, for starters, at least once a week. I want to write it on Day 6 of my work week. In other words, my day 6 will be my Friday which will not always be the standard Friday. I'm hoping it will consist of how my week went, how I changed (if at all), and what I expect in the next days. A lot of things will be going on and I hope to get it out there.

That being said, I know today is Thursday for everyone else in the regular corporate America, however today is my Tuesday!!! So my next entry will be either the 13th or the next day, since I work evenings this shift, I most likely will just vegetate in front of the tv when I get home until about 2-3 am! But I may surprise you.

I never know how to end a blog post and ending like a letter (Sincerely) just seems weird to me! So I just thought of an idea. On my desk I have a book entitled "The New York Public Library Desk Reference." This edition has a Copyright date of 1989. So I'm sure there are other updates out there, but for my purposes I will be using this edition. Don't like...don't read it! Everyone could use some knowledge in their life, even if you already know it, a refresher never hurt!

The Day
The mean solar day is the average length of a day as determined by noting one passage of the sun across the meridian of an observer and calculating the time that it takes for the sun to cross the same point in the sky a second time. Because the sun's time in making such a circuit varies seasonally, the uniform length of out day is based on a fictional average rather than on what is actually seen on any given day (called apparent solar day). The mean solar day is the basis of out 24-hour calendar day. It is actually 24 hours, 3 minutes, 56.66 seconds long in sidereal time.
The mean sidereal day is determined by a procedure similar to that of fixing the solar day; however, this procedure uses a star's passages across a reference point on the celestial sphere (that point now being the vernal equinox) instead of the sun's passage. That means that the solar day appears to be about 4 minutes longer than the sidereal day because Earth in its solar orbit has to move a little farther to get back to the point at which the sun crosses the mans meridian.

Practice makes perfect...

I thought I would start just playing around with the sewing machine and see what I could get into. Well tonight proved to be somewhat of a challenge. (See pictures as we go). I found a picture on Pinterest, but forgot to save it for later, so I was pretty much making up my own measurements and just going with it. Well as you are about to see, that idea had about as much wattage as a burning out light bulb.

First, I sewed the piece on inside out...

Then my bobbin was working against me....

 The stitching became loose....

So as a test drive on the re-thread, this is what the underside looked like....

Needless to say, with it being 2043hrs (8:43pm), I've decided to take a deep breath and ask my sister if she knew why it was doing it...Well, that didn't really get no where as I said not to worry about it. I remembered I adjusted the stitch length. After taking a closer look at what the h - e double hockey sticks I was doing, I noticed somehow the whole thing was off. I re-threaded the machine once again and low and behold....

I finished my first sewing project. Granted it took me like forever, but I did it. I know it's not perfect, but it's mine and I'm proud of it!

I'm glad I didn't walk away and leave this go. I messed around with the machine and was able to accomplish it. Just remember you can do anything you can set your mind too!!!

Sewing 101

I've always been fascinated with creations people make by hand. I've always wanted to learn to sew, since how my older sister was enrolled in a sewing class, I wanted to sew also. I never touched a sewing machine until I was in my 7th grade Home Economics class. I made a drawstring bag and some food. I haven't touched a sewing machine since....well over 15 years. I have taken over my mom's old Singer Touch & Sew Deluxe Zig - Zag Model 636...

For the most part, I think it works the way it is supposed to. I had some difficulties this morning as I was trying to test the stitches...I forgot to put the 'foot' down and ended up having to redo the bobbin! Of course, my mom didn't have the instruction book and trying to figure it out while she gave me directions over the phone was not the best plan. My sister who lives with me, is supposed to know how to do this but I chose to figure it out for myself. So I went to Singer's website and was able to print out the entire owner's manual for this model sewing machine! Whoop Whoop!!! Within a matter of minutes I had the bobbin in working order, I also figured out how to re-thread the whole thread to needle procedure.

I must say I do feel quite accomplished today! I didn't get to start any projects yet but I can see me starting something this week. For anyone following or reading,  you are in for a real treat as I will share my ups and downs in this sewing adventure! If you are also a novice at sewing, please feel free to share how your 'first time' went down! For the more advanced sewing readers....I'll take all the suggestions you have.

Now I did take it upon myself to register for a beginners basic sewing class, luckily I am going with my cousin, who also has no idea how to sew using a machine. Between the two of us, I'm pretty sure we will be able to figure it out and be a positive supporter for each other!

Tone It Up Novice

I have made a decision that now is the time for me start taking care of myself! I have gone through spurts that take me through extensive exercises gym visits then I end up skipping a day or two and stop all together. The girls @TIU make it easy since I'm starving myself. I still get to eat food (which I love). This is a program that makes me accountable by having to check in and track my meals and exercises. The best part is, like I said, you are still eating and not cutting out foods. You can have anything just in moderation. Which many people seem to forget.

So lets get this ball rolling and get to the new me!!

A new adventure...

With the recent infatuation I have with Pinterest, I have been finding a shiton of DIY activities! I recently redid several brass lamps I had in my home and couldn't be happier with the outcome! I'll post pictures later. I've also been dipping my toes in the wide world of sewing! This is something that I have always wanted to try and what better satisfaction could one have then being able to make your own clothes and have them look awesome. Of course mine may take a while to look awesome but as I always say "It's never to late to start anything!" And that's true! For some reason I feel like I am being a Susy Homemaker. I absolutely love cooking, everyone can do it! If you can read, you can cook! So I'm off to alter my computer office into a sewing room as well. I'll post pictures of my accomplishments and if anyone is reading this, by all means share some of your stories!

Starting ..... Again

For those of you who are following and are interested in what I have to say, thank you!

I recently got back together with my ex and we are (so far) doing great. I have decided that life is just too short and that I should go after anything that makes me happy. He makes me happy. I also started getting back into exercising since I've been slightly stressing over some issues. It ha been the best decision I've made.

Mary Kay....pt. 2

Guess you could say that it's official. I am a Mary Kay consultant. I have my own website (www.marykay.com/theresapanowicz), I will be receiving my business cards in the mail this week, my inventory will be available at my domain AND I'm having my business debut on Sunday. I am seriously hoping for the best in this journey. I attempted to sell another company (which will remain unnamed), a few years back. I think I made only one order and then just let it go. With this business they hold your hand until YOU are ready to let go. I already have three promising customers and if you don't count family well then it's two  ;).

I don't think I have been this excited since I began my career in Law Enforcement almost 3 years ago (July). So if you are just stumbling upon my blog go ahead and check out my website. Either you or someone you know may be interested in what Mary Kay has to offer.

Look for more news in the upcoming few weeks.

Mary Kay....

So I have just joined the empire of Mary Kay makeup. I am uber excited and cannot wait to get started on this. I know I can do it and I have the support of friends and family that are willing to help me succeed! More to come later.

You don't know me...

You don't know me and most people will probably never find or read this blog, but I had some spare time and I've found some interesting people who have things to say. Hopefully, one day I'll be one of those people that are being followed by at least one person.

You have never heard of me and probably never won't. I like to keep low key, sure every once in a while I have that moment where I just need to shine so what do I do you may ask yourself...I turn on a light bulb and stick it behind my head. :)

For now this is all I'm going to say since I should technically be in bed right about now. Don't worry for those few followers that I have, there is very exciting news on the way!

Much love,
Theresa a.k.a. Rockstar
