Taking a break ~~ Shout out to my momma

I know I'm not as consistent as other bloggers out there but I'm working on that.

Today is my mom's birthday and it has been a pretty good day. She got some chocolate covered pineapples in the shape of cupcakes (courtesy of me). Tonight my sister and I are taking my mom out to the ball game.

Working within my means .... Part 2

Part 2...

All the carpet is gone, the floor has been cleaned with Pine-Sol, once so far. It has been freshly painted (ceiling, walls and trim). I am quite happy with the way it turned it. I'm actually doing a small cabinet using the color from the closet. I'm pretty happy with it and with myself. Can't wait to get the carpet in (next Tuesday) and then, the full-size daybed I ordered will also be in in about two weeks, maybe sooner!!! The room is really coming along. I'm stuck on window treatments right now and I really need to get blinds in that room. So that will be another thing I'll be looking into!

Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasures... hahaha

I thought I had more but I guess I didn't. I'll be finishing the doors (closet and room) this week and they will be rehung after the carpet is installed. It's going to be like a whole new downstairs in the house.

The next project is going to be bar and something for the tv!!! Stay close.

Working within my means....

So I've been off from work for a little while now and I got the DIY bug!!! With my sister moving out, I am attempting to redo her office back into a spare bedroom.

I divert for some history---When I moved in to my home seven years ago, the carpets were freshly steam cleaned. My sister moved in, bought a cat (training didn't go so well), cat pees all over office carpet, we clean and re-clean as much as possible. But with all the 'stuff' that was in there at the time, getting the carpet up and out was out of the question....NOT ANYMORE!!!

I got the carpet and padding up in one day and gone the next (with the help of my dad and his pickup). Must to my dismay, I was left with Armstrong asbestos vinyl tile. If you know anything about them, it's enough to give any homeowner worries. ***BRING IN MY STRESS***

So this is going to be on-going. Here are some of the pictures of what it looks like now. I forgot to take pictures of the carpet, but take my word for it, they were bad. They smelled and were still damp (ewww...#grossfactor!!!)

Most of the tile is still in good condition. Thanks to the assistance of Pinterest and The Space Between with their Asbestos experience.

After a lengthy phone call with an inspector today, I decided to save myself $675 (US Currency) and I'm going to be covering the floor with carpet. Is that what I want, No. Is that what I'm going to do? Yes!

I have some colors picked out already, I'll be checking out the room in the morning to see what it looks like when the sun comes in and then off to the paint store to get rolling while the weather here in wonderful Maryland is nice!

Until next time.

ADD Overload

So I was recently in a work related car crash and today was my first day back to work after being out for four days. I was really beyond happy when I left the house this morning to go to work, then I got to work and realized that I maybe should have stayed home. Either way, it was a pretty good day at work for the most part. I ended up having to work my secondary gig for a few hours after and my back really paid the price. I couldn't wait to get home and take the uniform off and just relax!!!

Just like every other female I know, we are all pretty obsessed about being healthy in someway shape or form. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with wanting to lose a few pounds, it's when you are already skin and bones and think your still overweight that is the problem. The problem is with the models and the model television programs! How about taking a chance and going for the average to plus size beautiful female and giving her a multimillion dollar contract or insuring her body parts for millions of dollars? I'm just saying, how about looking out for the little guy (girl)!?

Just like this picture http://whirligigagogo.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/hotter-than.jpg, what are we teaching our little girls.

I know you are probably lost in this blog post, and to tell you the truth I think I am as well. HAHAHA. At the end of the night, I get random thoughts and if you stick with me, they may turn into something wonderful!

With that, I hope everyone has a wonderful night and stays warm.

Always Smile...

Well so much for writing on the end of every shift. As you can tell, life does get in the way. With everything I have going on, I don't know how professional bloggers do this for a living! Although I have to admit that I have thought about doing that but then I take a step back and realize that my ADD keeps me going in all different directions.

I read a quote once that said if you wanted to try and understand a women's mind, imagine having millions of tabs open in your internet. It was something like that, but it holds true. Even sitting here writing, I'm thinking about what I need to do and taking mental notes of a grocery list and when I want to go get the stuff.

So with that, I am going to get up and go do something.

2014 and what....

I know there are like literally less then probably two people who read my blog, but it makes it feel good knowing that I am trying to make some kind of difference in my world. By publishing it in a blog makes me feel accountable to hold myself to whatever it is!

2014...I would like to say started off with a "BANG" but it was just another day. I do what I usually do and refuse to make a resolution. I refuse because I don't want to make a promise to myself and not see it through. So instead of a resolution, I thought of other ways to (I guess) change. I want to be more organized. I am slightly already but could be more. I want to eat healthier, I already make good choices but I want to make more. I want to do stuff for me, I do but I want to do more. ... Are you sensing my theme here. I want to DO MORE for MYSELF!!!!

I am going to try and write a blog, for starters, at least once a week. I want to write it on Day 6 of my work week. In other words, my day 6 will be my Friday which will not always be the standard Friday. I'm hoping it will consist of how my week went, how I changed (if at all), and what I expect in the next days. A lot of things will be going on and I hope to get it out there.

That being said, I know today is Thursday for everyone else in the regular corporate America, however today is my Tuesday!!! So my next entry will be either the 13th or the next day, since I work evenings this shift, I most likely will just vegetate in front of the tv when I get home until about 2-3 am! But I may surprise you.

I never know how to end a blog post and ending like a letter (Sincerely) just seems weird to me! So I just thought of an idea. On my desk I have a book entitled "The New York Public Library Desk Reference." This edition has a Copyright date of 1989. So I'm sure there are other updates out there, but for my purposes I will be using this edition. Don't like...don't read it! Everyone could use some knowledge in their life, even if you already know it, a refresher never hurt!

The Day
The mean solar day is the average length of a day as determined by noting one passage of the sun across the meridian of an observer and calculating the time that it takes for the sun to cross the same point in the sky a second time. Because the sun's time in making such a circuit varies seasonally, the uniform length of out day is based on a fictional average rather than on what is actually seen on any given day (called apparent solar day). The mean solar day is the basis of out 24-hour calendar day. It is actually 24 hours, 3 minutes, 56.66 seconds long in sidereal time.
The mean sidereal day is determined by a procedure similar to that of fixing the solar day; however, this procedure uses a star's passages across a reference point on the celestial sphere (that point now being the vernal equinox) instead of the sun's passage. That means that the solar day appears to be about 4 minutes longer than the sidereal day because Earth in its solar orbit has to move a little farther to get back to the point at which the sun crosses the mans meridian.
